The goal of this course is to provide students with the necessary mathematical tools in linear algebra, multidimensional calculus, special functions, probabilistic and numerical methods to learn and understand machine learning algorithms as being taught in subsequent courses at HSR.

The goal of this course is to provide students with the necessary mathematical tools in linear algebra, multidimensional calculus, special functions, probabilistic and numerical methods to learn and understand machine learning algorithms as being taught in subsequent courses at HSR.
Plan und Lerninhalt:
- Introduction to multivariable calculus
- Analytical and numerical methods to deal with multivariate and constrained optimization problems
- Summary of special functions and statistical methods which are heavily used in the domain of machine learning
- Selected topics from linear algebra (e.g. symmetric matrices and rotation matrices, coordinate transformations, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, scalar product, norm, tensors)
